The smarter E Europe 2023: This is how it was for us at NOVUM

With a new record of over 100,000 visitors, The smarter E Europe came to a successful close last Friday. The fair was also a huge success for NOVUM. We participated together with the Saxon Business Development Agency for the third time. And never before have we been able to welcome so many people to our stand. Never before have we had so many exciting and productive discussions. It was particularly pleasing that some customers came to the trade fair just for us. We even had enthusiastic guests from Japan.

In addition to expert discussions, there was a special highlight for everyone at our booth: a Battery Analyzer, where visitors were allowed to try their hand at testing batteries live. With unanimous feedback: Checking batteries for their state of health, expected life or residual value is really child’s play with NOVUM technology. No wonder we didn’t have to transport the Battery Analyzer back to Dresden after the show — it was sold away from the booth to a customer.

The fact that the phones at NOVUM don’t stand still after the trade fair may also be due to a memorable appearance by our CEO Mandy Schipke as part of a panel — topic: “What About 2nd Life? Where Artificial Intelligence Usually Fails and How to Deal With It”. For the first time, three competitors from the field of AI-based battery diagnostics were on stage together to discuss. Our conclusion: AI is great, but not the holy grail! The fact that we can collect all battery data ourselves with our test systems is definitely a plus for our customers.

“Overall, you can see that dealing with artificial intelligence is now totally natural for the smart E clientele,” reports Mandy Schipke. The importance of battery storage is also obviously increasing for exhibitors and visitors. “Automobile manufacturers in particular are increasingly looking for solutions for the reuse of returns from e‑vehicles, and that’s of course where our technology comes into play,” reports Nico Büttner who is responsible for business development at NOVUM.

Apart from this, of course, the fun at the fair was not neglected. At the stand of the Saxon Business Development Agency our visitors had the opportunity to taste Saxon wine. And the booth parties with our friends from encore | DB the LEAG and PowerCo were legendary.

So much has changed in the space of a year — for us, but also for the industry as a whole. This makes us curious about 2024. We are happy to be part of it again!
