Our most important milestones

2014 We start the NOVUM engineering GmbH

Our story actually begins even before the founding date, 14.04.20214 — in a shared flat in Dresden, where a young sociology student suffers from the sometimes quite nerve-wracking experiments of her technology-enthusiastic roommates. The founding team of NOVUM comes together at a business plan competition — and shortly afterwards develops a brilliant idea!

2015 We receive active support from the Hightech Gründer Fonds

Strong partners make big projects possible. About a year after NOVUM was founded, we are proud and happy to receive support from the High Tech Gründer Fonds. It creates the basis for us to finally realize our vision of a technology that makes batteries predictable.

2016 Our CEO Mandy Schipke becomes Chairwoman of the Board at Energy Saxony

In her role as Chairwoman of the Board, our CEO Mandy not only has plenty of new responsibilities, but also the opportunity to increase NOVUM’s visibility in the Saxon energy sector. As we continue to develop our technology, we are already pleased to welcome numerous interested parties, supporters and cooperation partners.

2017 We receive a 7‑figure investment from Dr. Hettich Beteiligungen and are named Best European Hightech Startup

This year, we receive a real tailwind. The investment from Dr. Hettich Beteiligungen gives us the opportunity to continue working on our AI and even hire new employees. Being voted Best European High Tech Startup at the Hannover Messe makes us proud to this day.

2018 We receive the Google Digital Energy Award and the Volkswagen Future Mobility Award

We are on the right track. This is confirmed this year by further awards such as the Google Digital Energy Award and the Volkswagen Future Mobility Award. Meanwhile, our engineers and developers are working on the further development of our products so that they offer the optimum solution for the needs of interested companies.

2019 Our products are officially launched on the market

The time has finally come: companies can finally buy or lease the stationary and mobile test systems for battery diagnostics from NOVUM. We also launch our Storage Guard, which ensures that second-life batteries can also be used safely in battery storage systems.

2020 We have applied for our 20th patent

To secure the rights to our own developments, we have already applied for various national and international patents over the years. There are already over 20 in 2020. At the same time, we continue to drum up publicity and attend events and trade fairs to make companies aware of our technology.

2021 We launch our first major customer projects

The first major customers use our stationary test systems and our Storage Guard. These include LEAG Energy Cubes, RWE and JT Energy Systems, which produces energy systems for intralogistics in Freiberg, Saxony.

2022 We open Saxony’s largest battery storage facility with cooperation partners

Together with JT Energy Systems and our cooperation partner TRICERA as well as Minister President Michael Kretschmer, we are opening Saxony’s largest battery storage facility in Freiberg. Second life batteries will be installed in it, which the JT Energy Systems team will test on NOVUM’s stationary test systems for this purpose. The storage system itself is also monitored by NOVUM’s AI.

2023 We win new customers and are awarded the Saxon Innovation Prize

Other well-known companies are now among NOVUM’s customers. These include, for example, Deutsche Bahnbaugruppe and Shell. In June 2023, we are awarded the Saxon State Prize for Innovation for our work.

2024 We are looking forward to an exciting anniversary year with our customers, partners and friends!
