Master’s thesis: Warehouse management system and API development

Since 2014, we at NOVUM have been making batteries calculable. With patented hardware and artificial intelligence, we can provide precise information about the condition and service life of energy storage systems. We were named High Tech Startup Europe in 2017 and received the Saxon State Prize for Innovation in 2023!

As part of your Master’s thesis, you will have the opportunity to implement a Warehouse Management System (WMS) in our company and develop API interfaces for automated ordering. You will work closely with our IT team and gain practical experience in a dynamic environment.

What you bring:

  • Ongoing Master’s degree in computer science, business informatics or a related field
  • Initiative, a sense of responsibility and a structured way of working
  • Knowledge of common programming languages such as Python or JavaScript/Typescript
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular or React) and Python frameworks (e.g. Django or Flask)
  • Familiarity with database management systems (MySQL or PostgreSQL) and SQL
  • Experience in the development and use of RESTful APIs and understanding of API security standards (OAuth, JWT)
  • Basic knowledge of GIT and Docker
  • Knowledge of agile methods (Scrum, Kanban)

These are your tasks:

  • Analysis of the requirements and creation of a specification sheet for the WMS and the API interfaces
  • Selection of a suitable WMS based on the defined requirements
  • Design and development of system architecture and data models
  • Implementation of the WMS and programming of the API interfaces for automated ordering
  • Execution of tests (unit tests, integration tests, system tests) to ensure functionality and performance
  • Documentation of the entire implementation process
  • Training employees in the use of the new system
